    On the initiative and thanks to the financial support of Professor Yasuo Harada, the YHRP Museum was opened in Hiroshima, in which the works of Polish artists from Mr. Kunio Miyauchi’s collection, decorated in 1994 with the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland (Class IV) for its contribution to the promotion of Polish culture in Japan.

    The opening ceremony of the YHRP museum took place on October 17, 2018. Among participants, besides the representative of the Embassy in Tokyo, Ms. Małgorzata Szmidt from the Political and Economic Section, there were also: the mayor of the city of Hiroshima - Mr. Kazumi Matsui, the governor of Hiroshima prefecture - Mr. Hidehiko Yuzaki and former Foreign Minister and current chairman of the political council of the ruling LDP party - Mr. Fumio Kishida. The event was also attended by Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland in Hiroshima - Mr. Takashi Yamashita.

    The main exhibition of the museum, funded by an outstanding laryngology specialist and the former President of Hiroshima University - Professor Yasuo Harada, will be composed of Polish works of art from Mr. Kunio Miyauchi’s collection, purchased during his numerous trips to Poland in the 1980s and 1990s. According to the intention of the creators of the museum, it is to become a place of  many intercultural meetings between Poland and Japan, thus contributing to the growing interest in Poland among the residents of Hiroshima. The museum will also be a continuation of the philanthropic activity of Mr. Kunio Miyauchi, who for years, through the activities of Miyauchi Poland - Japan Foundation, supported young artists from Poland and promoted their artistic activities in Japan.
