Japanese representation visited the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Tokyo before the flight to Warsaw.

Thanks to the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Tokyo and the Japanese sponsors,  a Japanese football team from orphanages in Tokyo will take part in the Football World Cup for the second time. The 5th Football World Cup of Children from Care Homes will be held at Legia’s stadium in Warsaw on July 15th and 16th.

On this occasion the send-off event was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland on July 1st. The football players received small gifts from Ambassador Jacek Izydorczyk and Mrs. Akie Abe. In his speech Ambassador Jacek Izydorczyk highlighted that the trip of Japanese students was symbolic as some of the team’s members came from the Fukudenkai Orphanage which sheltered a group of Polish children more than a century ago, so-called “Siberian Orphans”.

The event was also attended by senator Hirofumi Nakasone – the Chairman of Japan-Poland Friendship League at the House of the Councillors, the former Ambassador of Japan to Poland Makoto Yamanaka, the representatives of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare and the sponsors.
